1. Station Lockers (The Most Common Option)
You will find automatic lockers at almost every HSR station, major TRA train station, and key MRT stations.
📍 Where to find them?
- Taipei Main Station: B1 level is a maze of lockers. Look near the HSR/TRA gate entrances and the hallways connecting to MRT.
- HSR Stations: Usually located near the exits or convenience stores (7-11/FamilyMart) inside the station.
- MRT Stations: Major tourist stops (e.g., Ximen, Taipei 101, Tamsui, Kaohsiung Formosa Boulevard) usually have them near the information counter.
💰 Price & Sizes (approx.)
- Small (fits backpack): NT$30-40 / 3 hours.
- Medium (carry-on): NT$50-60 / 3 hours.
- Large (28"+ suitcase): NT$70-80 / 3 hours.
- Note: Most lockers charge by '3-hour blocks'. If you exceed the time, you pay the difference when retrieving.
📝 How to use (Foreigner Friendly)
- Select Language: Touch screens usually support English, Japanese, and Korean.
- Deposit: Place bag inside, close door firmly.
- Payment: EasyCard/iPASS is the best method (tap and go). Some older machines only accept NT$50 coins (cashier can change money).
- Receipt: Take the printout! It has the Code to open the door (if you paid by cash). If you paid by card, just tap the same card to open.
2. TRA Baggage Room (Storage Service)
For oversized items (surfboards, bike boxes, massive trunks) that won't fit in lockers, look for the TRA Baggage Room (行李房). This is a manned service specifically for Temporary Storage (暫時寄放).
- Location: Often located slightly outside the main station hall (e.g., near the East Exit at Taipei Main Station).
- Price: Very cheap! Approx. NT$30-70 per item per day.
- Hours: Usually 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Warning: You usually cannot retrieve items after hours.
For a detailed list of stations with baggage rooms, check this guide: TRA Baggage Services Room List.
3. Shipping Luggage & Bicycles via Train
The Taiwan Railways (TRA) offers services to move your gear across the island.
📦 Shipping Service (託運)
You can ship luggage or bicycles as cargo on specific trains without riding them yourself.
- Where: Go to the Baggage Room.
- Bicycles: A naked bike (without a bag) can be shipped. Price Example: Shipping a bicycle from Pingtung to Wanhua (Taipei) costs approx. NT$800.
- Speed: Usually arrives the next day.
🚲 Carry-on (隨車)
If you put your bike in a bike bag, it counts as luggage and is free on most trains. If you want to roll a naked bike onto the train with you, you must buy a half-price ticket for the bike on 'Bicycle-Friendly Trains' (兩鐵列車).
4. Delivery Services: Airport & Domestic

5. Common Questions from Travelers
A: Yes, usually up to 3 days (72 hours). However, you cannot access them when the station is closed (midnight to 6 AM). If you leave it >24 hours, the screen will ask for the extra payment before opening.
A: Don't panic. Find the station information counter or call the support number on the locker. You will need to prove ownership (describe contents) and pay a penalty fee (approx. NT$200) + storage fee. Tip: Always take a photo of your receipt!
